What is a Chapter or Interest Group?

Trent University has alumni from countries all over the world. Chapters provide the opportunity for alumni to come together with other Trent graduates in their city or geographic region. In addition to geographic Chapters, alumni may choose to gather by a shared interest, such as a varsity sport, a club or group, an academic program, or other affiliation. The current Colleges of Trent also have alumni groups. All of these groups allow alumni to gather and share experiences, create professional and personal networks, and stay connected to Trent.

The current Colleges of Trent encourage you to participate and stay connected! Each name is a link to the alumni webpage for the College: Champlain, Catherine Parr Traill, Peter Gzowski, Lady Eaton, Otonabee.

Chapter Programming may include:  
Informal socials in a local pub or restaurant; local guest speaker events; hosting a visiting Trent faculty or member of the Leadership Team; workshops or professional development sessions. Chapters may gather in person or virtually. The Alumni Engagement & Services team will support Chapter activity.  Chapters in areas with greater concentrations of alumni may be asked to assist with events and programming organized by Alumni Engagement & Services.  

How is a Chapter or Interest group created? 
Suggestions for chapters or interest groups are initiated by alumni who find themselves in a community with other Trent alum and feel there would be interest in regular alumni programming that would include at least five additional alumni. Chapters and Interest Groups are driven by the enthusiasm of their participants.
