Tom Jackson to Bring New Seasonal Show to Peterborough and Trent University
"Stories, Songs and Santa Causes" Holiday Concert to Raise Funds for First People’s House of Learning
November 16, 2022
Former Trent University Chancellor and Indigenous Canadian entertainment icon Tom Jackson will kickstart the holiday season with the grace, style, and quirky festivity that many have enjoyed for decades. His new touring show, Stories, Songs and Santa Causes will land at Wenjack Theatre at Trent University on December 8 at 7pm..
Expect an evening of original music, sing-along tunes, and festive music from this master storyteller. Tickets are $35, or free to Trent students, and are available here.
Tom has travelled coast to coast to coast with The Huron Carole for many years, raising funds and awareness for local food banks and family service agencies, and this year, Wenjack Theatre audiences will get to enjoy some of his in-person charm. Proceeds from this show will go to the Trent Fund in support of Indigenous cultural services offered by the First Peoples House of Learning at Trent University.
“Trent University is thrilled to welcome former chancellor Dr. Tom Jackson back to campus for this special event,” notes Lee Hays, Director of Alumni Engagement & Services. “Through his music and advocacy, Tom has raised over $250 million for various causes. Once again, he is demonstrating his passion for Trent University students by selecting the First Peoples House of Learning as the beneficiary of proceeds from the upcoming show.”
As a Companion of the Order of Canada, Juno and Gemini Humanitarian Award winner, eleven-time honorary degree recipient, and a proud bearer of the 2014 Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement, Tom is noted for his ability to mobilize others into action – often leading with a hug.
Stories, Songs and Santa Causes also features BC Country Music Association Hall-of-Fame producer, Tom McKillip; and award-winning producer/multi-instrumentalist, John MacArthur Ellis.
Tom, Tom and John can’t promise “no Dad jokes”, but the performance will bring some much-welcome levity and humanity with a date-night - or family-day - vibe!
The event is brought to you by The Trent University Alumni Association.
