Trent Sparked Her Passion - Now She’s a Champion for Equity Across Durham 

For Nilo Honarbakhsh ’16, Trent Durham GTA’s close-knit campus laid the foundation for a career in equity, inclusion, and community-building

Nilo Honarbakhsh ’16 is the policy coordinator in the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer at the Region of Durham, focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion, and building community relationships. 

As a Social Work student at Trent Durham GTA, Nilo immersed herself in student life, including working as a student ambassador in Trent’s Recruitment and Admissions Office, and founding and running a new student club, the Improv Club.  

“It was a fun way to get involved and get to know other students, and it tied in well with my experience with giving tours, further strengthening my communication skills outside of my classes.” 

These experiences were standout moments in her Trent journey, giving her the confidence and skills she uses today in her role at the Region of Durham.
