The Campaign for Trent Durham GTA's campus expansion received a boost with a $100,000 matching gift from campaign chair Doug Kirk '70. Mr. Kirk will match every dollar up to $100,000 for a potential impact of $200,000 towards the campus expansion.

"I am investing in the future prosperity of Durham Region," explained Doug Kirk '70. "My Trent education equipped me with the adaptable, transferrable skills that have helped make my career path personally rewarding. In today's competitive economy, it is more important than ever that we invest in the next generation. With this matching gift, I invite others to join me."

Mr. Kirk’s new matching commitment builds on a generous $500,000 donation from the Trent alumnus that kicked off the Campaign in March 2019. He is the president and founder of Durham Radio Inc., an industry leader in the region. Mr. Kirk’s involvement and passion for the Durham community, paired with his decades of work experience and extensive network have been a driving force behind the Campaign.

The Durham community, The City of Oshawa, and The Region of Durham have been vital to the Campaign's success and momentum. The City of Oshawa enabled Trent's expansion project in 2017 with a donation of 1.8 acres of land, and The Region of Durham gifted $1.42 million towards the Campaign last year. The Campaign has seen an outpouring of support from the Durham community who are investing not only in the campus expansion but in the future of the community they live in.
