Trent University Alumni “Together Again”
Montreal and Ottawa Chapters return to in-person events with recent receptions
December 2, 2022
Trent University Alumni Association (TUAA) chapters in Ottawa and Montreal celebrated a return to in-person events by hosting “Together Again” receptions on November 28 and 29. Both events offered alumni and University representatives the opportunity to socialize, reminisce, and share in the latest Trent news.
The Ottawa event, held at the Rideau club, was hosted by long-time Ottawa chapter member Liam Mooney '05; while Montreal, held at the University Club, was hosted by the equally dedicated François Senécal '83. Both hosts were recognized at their respective events for their longstanding volunteerism with both the TUAA and Trent University.
“These events brought together alumni from each of the colleges,” noted Lee Hays '91, Director of Alumni Engagement & Services, “and from the earliest years of the University right through to a graduate from just last year. It was a welcome return to seeing alumni coming together and sharing in the Trent spirit.”
Representatives from the University also included Dr. Cathy Bruce, vice-president of Research & Innovation, Sherry Booth, associate vice-president of Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement and Marilyn Burns, vice-president of Communications & Enrolment. Both events featured informal Trent updates, including the results of the recently released Champlain Report, Trent’s continued success in the Maclean’s Magazine university rankings, and the latest appointments of Canada Research Chairs to the institution.
TUAA council co-chair Stephen Brown was pleased to attend both events.
“It’s been a while since I’ve done a Trent road trip,” he noted. “And November 2022 was the perfect time to hit the road. Ottawa and Montreal alumni made me feel incredibly welcomed. I met some amazing new people and reconnected with some older friends. When you have Trent in common, you become immediately close. It was wonderful to be in-person with our community.”
