Traill 60th

Group of five

The annual Traill College scarfing ceremony drew many students to the Jalynn Bennett Amphitheatre where community leader David Goyette was made an honorary fellow. Goyette – a former special advisor to then Trent president Leo Groarke – is known in Peterborough for his roles in politics, the arts, and philanthropic efforts. After being named a Fellow, Goyette said he is proud to support Trent because of its close ties to and strong engagement with the local communities.

Also at Traill celebrating the 60th anniversary was the 'Traill '80s crew' consisting of John Kennedy '85, his wife Tracy Kennedy '87, Lynne Angus (nee Pidduck) '86, Tim Haley '85, and Cathy Warren '88. All will be hosting a special '80s reunion party on November 28 with a speakers panel about life at Traill in the '80s.

While not a Traill alumna herself, Angela Moore '94 (Otonabee College) flew from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to attend the ceremony with her best friend Jesmen Mendoza '94 (Otonabee College) because her son Felix Greenway-Moore was getting scarfed as a first-year Traill student.

"I’m coming back to a place that was instrumental in my life – a place where I first met my best friend on our first day at Trent - and a place where I hope Felix will have the same University experience," she said. "I’m flying back to the UAE, but I know I’m leaving him in a university I trust and a community I trust."
