Season 7 Amazing Great Race Winner Comes to Trent 
A Night with Dr. James Makokis: Decolonizing Medicine 

Dr. James Makokis is a two-spirit physician from Saddle Lake Cree Nation. He practices family medicine and transgender care in Kehewin Cree Nation, where he incorporates Cree medicine, language and ceremony into his work as part of a healthy life. Dr. Makokis is an associate clinical professor at University of Alberta and a recipient of the National Aboriginal Achievement Award.

All proceeds from this game will be going to the Electric City Maroon & Whites Hockey Team, a charity that helps children with cognitive or physical special needs the chance to play hockey. Alumni and their family are encouraged to attend and support this fundraiser.

Please join us for the Life After Trent Club, generously hosted by Canada Life at their iconic building, located in downtown Toronto (has a tower that lights up on top, which is a weather beacon). This event features a tour of this iconic building. 

Life After Trent Club: A series of casual mixers at unique workplaces in Toronto, hosted by Trent alumni, for alumni in the early stages of their careers.

Location Note: Event starts at 190 Simcoe Street for refreshments, then moves to the Canada Life Building located across the street.

CINSA 2020 Conference: Canadian Indigenous / Native Studies Association

For the Seventh Generation, Imagining and Creating Indigenous Studies (Day 1 of 4)

Co-hosts: Urban Aboriginal Knowledge Network and the Trent University Chanie Wenjack School for Indigenous Studies
This conference is in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Indigenous Studies at Trent University and the twentieth anniversary of the Indigenous Studies PhD program at Trent. .

Theme: Conference will examine the themes of Imagining and Creating Indigenous Futures, particularly in urban spaces including community driven research, health and well-being, community development, youth and child development, urban indigenous, identities, histories, ethics, governance, language and culture, justice and education.

This event feature documentary in-development with filmmaker Dr.James Cullingham '73. Staff from the New Canadian Centre and KWIC will be participating in the event, along with journalists who have come to Canada from Syria, Mexico, and Turkey and who are featured in the project.

Event includes film clip, Dr. Cullingham talk and panet with the journalists.

10 Year Reunion for the Class of '15

This is the start of an exciting new tradition for Trent alumni.

Each year during Homecoming, a special reunion event will take place for those alumni who started 10 years earlier. The first event will take place in 2025 for those Trent alumni who started in 2015. At Trent University your alumni year is your start year at Trent.
