Trent University Board of Governors member Connie Bonello establishes a $25,000 Philosophy Bursary

The Austin James Taylor and Levi Raymond Taylor Philosophy Bursary will support and encourage students majoring in Philosophy at Trent who require financial assistance.

Connie Bonello is a seasoned management consultant and has several years of global executive level experience. Ms. Bonello is a Board of Governors member at Trent University, Chair of the Bonham Centre Advisory Board, University of Toronto, and Advisory Board member of the Schulich School of Business, Masters of Business Analytics Program. She is the recipient of the 2015 University of Toronto Arbor Award and the 2013 IBM Volunteer Excellence Award. Ms. Bonello holds an Honors BA in Economics and an MBA. In addition to being an active member of the community, she is an avid road cyclist, horse rider and world traveler.

Ms. Bonello attributes her business success to her Economics and liberal arts education. She is passionate about how the fundamentals of Philosophy engage independent thinking and provide students with the ability to see a variety of different perspectives. According to Ms. Bonello, “I believe these are the skills and knowledge we need to enable societal prosperity.”

Through this bursary, Ms.Bonello hopes that her nephews will grow up to understand the importance of a liberal arts education, value in critical thinking, as well as the importance of giving back to society. Currently, Austin James Taylor is eight years old and enjoys being in the outdoors. Her youngest nephew Levi Raymond Taylor is three and is very curious how things work.
