Kelly McDowell is a community herbalist and co-founder and coordinator of the Peterborough Community Medicine Garden, operating within the Trent Vegetable Gardens. She will share her research on the herbal traditions practiced by her African American ancestors in the Southern United States. Her presentation will not only illustrate the efficacy and necessity of utilizing plant medicine as a form of resistance to the violence of slavery, but also touch upon the ongoing social context(s) that make herbal wisdom vital to our current and future well-being.
This event will take place at the Seasoned Spoon on Monday, February.
