Life After Trent Online: the Chemistry Edition

Thursday, February 11, 2021 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Join us for Life After Trent: Chemistry Edition. Students and alumni are invited to attend Life After Trent: the Chemistry Edition, a casual yet informative virtual networking session where you will meet experienced alumni, gain insightful advice from the experiences of others, and create valuable connections. This will be a great opportunity for professional development. In this session, we welcome Dr. Mark Robinson '99 and Dr. Jennifer Le Roy '06. Dr. Mark Robinson '99 is a family doctor practicing in rural Ontario. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a joint major in Chemistry and Biology from Trent University. Through the Trent-Queen's Program, Mark went on to complete his Master of Science degree in Physical Chemistry at Queen's University. While pursuing his Masters degree, he developed an interest in teaching, leading him to a Bachelor of Education degree at York University. With a shift in interests, Mark then completed a Doctor of Medicine degree from Queen's University and his residency at the University of Toronto Rural Family Medicine Program. His career has led him to Millbrook ON where he took over a rural practice from a retiring physician. Here he practices a broad scope of medicine in his office and a long-term care facility. Dr. Jennifer Le Roy '06 is Chief Technology Officer at BioCellection, a tech startup focused on making consumer products from plastic waste. Jennifer was serving as a Reservist in the Canadian Military when she uncovered her curiosity and passion for science. She has since earned an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Trent University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemistry from the University of Ottawa. She spent time as a Research Assistant at Trent, as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Ottawa, and as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Oxford. In her time at BioCellection, she has worked as Product Developer, Director of Research and Development, and now as the Chief Technology Officer.
