Other Ways to Get Involved

You may have left Trent, but the spirit of Trent continues to live on well after graduation day.  You can continue to play an important role in the life of the university, even if you can only commit to a couple of hours or live on the other side of the country!

If any of the below opportunities interest you please contact the Alumni Office at  We look forward to hearing from you!

Be an Ambassador for Trent

Alumni, simply by speaking well of the University, become ambassadors for Trent. Talk about your Trent experience, wear your Trent gear, stay in the know about the great things happening at Trent, look for opportunities to help Trent form new partnerships. Word-of-mouth endorsements are appreciated, since they enhance the reputation and visibility of the University. This can be done by any Alumni anywhere!

Committee and Board Work

All graduates of Trent are part of the Trent University Alumni Association (TUAA).  The TUAA and Trent University have a number of committees and boards where Alumni volunteer their time and get involved with the University Community.  Participation can often be by phone and the time commitment varies depending on the committee.

Trent University Alumni Association

The TUAA elects a Council that is responsible for the affairs of the TUAA.  If you would like to be involved with Council or sit on one of the committees of TUAA Council, go to: TUAA Council Opportunities.

The Colleges and Departments of Trent University have a variety of committees that would welcome and appreciate Alumni input - either in person or by phone. The number of meetings and time commitment varies with the committees.

Convocation Sub-Committee of CASSC (Colleges and Student Services Committee)

This committee reviews information about Convocation and reports to CASSC. The committee only meets once or twice/year, usually in January or February. The Alumni representative is a consultant to this committee. The other members are students representing the Colleges, the Trent Central Student Association and Graduate Student Association as well as a staff or faculty representative.  Please contact Joanne Sokolowski at if you are interested in sitting on this committee.

College Advisory Councils

The Colleges of Trent each have an Advisory Council to help inform their decision making. If you are interested in being the Alumni Representative on a College Advisory Council please contact that College directly:,,,,

The Last Lecture Planning Committee

The Colleges of Trent University are looking for an Alumni to sit on their planning committee to review nominations for student and faculty speakers for the Last Lecture, which will take place at the end of the school year.

The Last Lecture offers graduating students an opportunity to come together and reflect upon their experiences at Trent University, bring closure to the time they have spent here, and celebrate their many accomplishments both inside and outside of the classroom. This annual event features an address by a graduating student, a distinguished alumni and a faculty member. Each lecturer follows a central theme, offering their personal reflections, stories and words of wisdom to the graduating class.

Trent University Board of Governors

If you would like to have an impact on the future direction of Trent University you may be interested in joining the Board of Governors.  Positions are voluntary and involve a time commitment of approximately 1 – 2 weekdays per month.  Appointments are made in the spring. For more information please go to: Trent University Board of Governor Opportunities
